Are u happy with ur work?

Since the past few days, I m getting to interact with lots of people who say they are at the wrong place at the right time. They say they chose to do whatever came in their way. So they just went with the flow, little realizing whether they will really enjoy their work or not. In fact, I realize many of us plunge into jobs right after the graduation, having little knowledge of what kind of job we really want to do. How appropriate it is? I am not saying that people always falter at this stage. Many present day senior executives started their careers at this time only. But how much importance was given to job satisfaction in those days? I don't know. But I am in serious doubt over how well people assess their likes and dislikes today. Or is it the influence of the desire to make quick money.. I would not like to judge any one on these terms. But this is just out of curiosity after seeing so many people unhappy and dissatisfied with what they are doing that I raised this question..

  1. But there are people unsure of their purpose in life or rather they realize it at a latter stage in life...and those I think comprise the major chunk..they are probably the ones entering any field at any time..
know this coz I fall in that category, atleast at this stage of my life...
having said, I must say I do feel and understand the unsatisfaction being mentioned above..!

  2. Harpreet, I know..n i think its the case with many people who do it..some do it for financial independence..some for the sake of quick money..and i think its not a fault to find out ur calling later on in life..take the example of Henry Ford who grew up on a prosperous family farm, worked as a machinist, ran a sawmill, worked as an engineer and after two unsuccessful attempts to establish a company to manufacture automobiles, the Ford Motor Company was incorporated in 1903 with Henry Ford as vice-president and chief engineer. So u see my point..there is no need to be disheartened if we don't find our calling as early as others do..if we keep working towards finding that ultimate goal, we may find it sooner or later..

  4. At times people take up jobs to get to know if that is the kind of work they would like to do all their lives...fortunate are the ones for whom it clicks in the first go..for others it is an experience...good or bad..experiences teach you a lot...and even if u don't like your job and are dying to quit it..it's not the end of the world...if you are brave enough to brave to pursure your dreams..you'll get it one day...and that day...you'll be like whoaaaa..!!! I have found what i love to do...!! and the journey is worthwhile..
